Women are persistently under-represented in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) sector. In the tech world, still the implicit assumption that men are the default human remains king. While there are an increasing number of female-led tech firms that do cater to women’s needs, they are seen as a “niche” concern and often struggle to get funding.
On the other hand large corporations struggle to increase the number of women in top roles. Why are there fewer women in senior positions, what’s stopping them progressing and what can employers do to enable them to progress?
